Discard your smartphones, erase Instagram, because no candid of you will ever match anything as majestic and resplendent as this back shot of the Duchess of Cambridge, who – even at four months pregnant – looks thinner than you did after that bout of mono. [Read more…]

The History Behind the British Royal Collection’s Most Famous Jewelry
Hello, Duchess Diary readers! I’m Ella Kay, the writer and editor of The Court Jeweller, a blog about royal and noble jewels from around the world.
Kelly has graciously asked me to step in this afternoon to talk about my very favorite subject: royal jewelry. She challenged me to share five of my favorite items of jewelry from the British royal collection. With so many amazing, sparkly pieces to choose from, it was a tough job, but here are five of the best pieces in the Windsor vaults. (And — significantly for a blog about the Duchess of Cambridge — these are all pieces that are very likely to be worn one day by a future royal consort: Queen Catherine!) [Read more…]
5 Times Kate Middleton Showed Off That Darling Baby Bump in Wales
Yesterday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had an “away day” in Wales, paying a visit to Pembroke Refinery, which celebrated 50 years of services (it was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1964).
Following that, Catherine and William attended the Wales vs Australian rugby game at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, which they traveled to from Pembroke via helicopter, according to the Daily Mail. At halftime, the couple met with injured servicemen; tomorrow they will attend Remembrance Sunday in London. [Read more…]
The UK Poignantly Observes Remembrance Sunday
There are few things more moving than Remembrance Sunday, a day on which citizens “commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.” [Read more…]
5 Reasons Pippa Middleton Should Not Become a ‘Today’ Show Correspondent
Page Six broke the news earlier this week that Pippa Middleton is thisclose to signing on as a Today correspondent. Photos of Middleton and a film crew in Wyoming further fueled those reports, which claimed that NBC may pay her between $500,000 and $600,000.
“Almost Royal” Stars Crash The Britannia Awards, Sadly No One Noticed
If there’s anything the Brits know how to do, it’s comedy. Case-in-point: BBC America’s faux reality series, “Almost Royal,” which follows aristocratic siblings Poppy and Georgie Carlton on a tour of the USA. Though the trip was brought on by tragic circumstances (their father accidentally shot himself when a bullet from his hunting rifle ricocheted off a “No Hunting” sign ), Georgie and Poppy appeared to have soaked up at least a Range Rover full of American culture.
They learned about baseball, they witness a Revolutionary War reenactment and — though they didn’t quite get the hang of it — picked up some American lingo. [Read more…]
Watch Prince Charles Amusingly Recall an Awkward 1977 Interview
I’ve always found the Prince of Wales funny, and appreciate that he enjoys making light of (most) situations. Over the years the public has seen him loosen up, becoming somewhat of a character, and I think most people appreciate that.
Prince Charles earned a bad rap during his marriage to Diana, Princess of Wales as stiff and prone to complaining, but as the heir grows older, people in his company have noticed a thawing, revealing that dry, subtle Windsor humor that is hard to resist.
No other instance better displays Charles’ ability to play along and have a bit of fun than this video in which he recalls a 1977 interview with Australian TV presenter Molly Meldrum.
Countdown, a popular music TV show down under, is celebrating 40 years on the air. According to People, His Royal Highness recorded a video about that infamous interview, in which Meldrum flubbed his lines and appeared very, very nervous.

“Do you not have one of these teleprompters?” a young Charles asked.
“No,” Meldrum said, his face grey.
“Was it really 40 years ago? It only seems like yesterday,” Charles recalled. “I wish it were tomorrow. I’d cancel it.”
Inside The Kingly Mind of Prince George
Today, Tatler Magazine published The Diary of George Windsor: How George is Feeling About Becoming a Big Brother, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to weighing the pros and cons of competing for mum’s attention.
According to Prince George‘s diary, his court was present when the Duchess of Cambridge came to deliver good tidings of a fetus. His PR team was present, as was his stylist, hair and makeup, his “diary secretary” and his Latin teacher, who helpfully translated Catherine’s news. [Read more…]
How Am I Just Learning That Kate Middleton Wears An Eternity Band?
While writing up a guest post for @courtjeweller, I was researching work by two of my favorite royal bloggers, What Kate Wore and My Small Obsessions.
I admire and respect these women because not only are they spot-on when it comes to identifying clothes, accessories and jewelry that Catherine wears, but they make sure to credit anyone who gave them a tip. [Read more…]
