Kensington Palace Confirms That Prince Harry Will Leave The Armed Forces

Last month, reports circulated that Prince Harry would leave the armed forces later this year.  According to Royal Central, Kensington Palace announced today that Harry will indeed leave  in order to focus more on his charities, among them Sentebale and Walking With The Wounded.  He’ll spend a month of training in Australia in April and May, after which he will step down from his duties.

As a Commissioned Officer in the Household Cavalry, Harry took up a Staff Officer role in 2014 so that he could coordinate projects and events in London.  His Royal Highness also took part in a trek to Antarctica to raise funds and awareness for Walking With The Wounded, and launched the hugely successful Invictus Games last September.  Continue reading

Yesterday, the community of “Peeps Who Love A Good Kate Challenge” (hello!) were on the hunt for the makers of a new tanzanite teardrop set worn by the Duchess of Cambridge to the service commemorating combat in Afghanistan.

As I expected, a super-sleuth extraordinaire* by the name of “Jenny” help My Small Obsessions track down the jewelers who made the earrings and necklace, G. The Queen and Prince Philip Hold Hands After Service Honoring British Forces in Afghanistan

The royal family attended a Service of Commemoration for troops who were stationed in Afghanistan at St Paul’s Cathedral today in London.  The men and Princess Anne were in full military regalia as they made their way into the service, while the Queen and Prince Philip arrived last, as tradition dictates.

The Windsors gathered with politicians, injured soldiers and families who lost loved ones in battle during the commemoration.  The BBC’s royal correspondent Sarah Campbell tweeted that the service was very “moving” and “it was a real privilege to speak to some veterans and their families.”

453 British troops were killed in Afghanistan since combat started 13 years ago.

While I’m disappointed not to see a fallopian-tube-toilet-seat hat, I have to hand it to Princess Beatrice for bringing her A-Game to the exhibit opening of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at the Victoria & Albert museum tonight.

McQueen passed away in February 2011, though his legacy is carried on and honored through the work of his successor, Sarah Burton, a favorite of Duchess of Cambridge.  Continue reading

Today, the Duchess of Cambridge visited the Downton Abbey set at Ealing Studios in London, where SHE toured the trailers, set and accepted a cake made by Daisy (Sophie McShera) and Mrs. Patmore (Leslie Nicol).

She spent the longest time in the kitchen, so me and Lesley [Nicol, who plays head cook Mrs. Patmore] are taking that as a compliment,” McShera told People‘s Simon Perry.
