I’ve been guilty of taking a selfie or two, but I don’t feel great about it.  Especially when Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Harry have both publicly condemned the somewhat vain act (Soz not soz MILLENIALS.)

According to the BBC, Wimbledon is the latest venue to ban selfie sticks, deeming them a distraction.

In common with many other major sports and entertainment events and cultural attractions, the championships will not allow selfie sticks into the grounds,” the All England Lawn Tennis Club’s ticketholders’ guide stated.

A spokesman for the club told the Sunday Times that selfie sticks are a “nuisance,” and explained that the rule was put into play to preserve the spectator’s enjoyment of a match.

The BBC reports that the National Gallery, The Palace of Versailles, the Colosseum and The Smithsonian have already banned selfie sticks.  Even Coachella and Lollapalooza won’t let the item into their festivals, with the former going so far as to call them “narciss-sticks,” according to NPR.

In the photo of the Duchess at Wimbledon, do you know who the woman behind her (wearing black and white, with chin-length dark hair) is? I’ve seen photos of this event from the front, which show her more clearly, and she is very elegant.
