Just because William and Catherine sat this round out doesn’t mean that other royals were going to watch the Summer Games from the comfort of their homes.

Queen Maxima packed up her chicest summer pieces, as well as orange pants for her husband, and brought her family to her native South America (Her Majesty originally hails from Argentina).

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia supported the Swedish national team, Prince Albert cheered on Monaco, Prince Frederick did the same with Denmark, as did Princess Anne for Great Britain.

What was most pleasant to see was how relaxed the royals looked sitting in the grandstands watching events.    Continue reading

These photos may have been taken four years ago, but they will always reflect an Olympic spectator’s mood.

How do you feel?  Are you nervous?  Frustrated? Can you not stand to look?

Wonderful, there’s a photo for that.

Since the Duchess of Cambridge opted not to attend the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics (one cannot blame her, since Zika virus is a real threat), we instead must bookmark this page for a guide on how to feel when your favorite athlete is going for the gold.

Go ahead, bookmark this page.  I’ll wait.

Ready?

Take your mark..GO!

5 Ridiculous Tabloid Covers That Declared William and Kate King and Queen

Redbook

If I’ve learned anything from glancing over the weekly rags, it’s that gold stickers are a fantastic way to trick people into thinking a headline is real.

Henceforth, I daren’t believe a word any publication states unless it’s stamped with a gold sticker (are you listening, Simon Perry?).

Every story is the same – Prince Charles is being skipped over in favor of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for the British throne because Queen Elizabeth said so!  Camilla is jealous AF and swears she will exact revenge on the beautiful Duchess for messing up her plans to rule over the kingdom!

My favorite part of these tabloid covers is the placement a tiara atop Catherine’s head (bless Photoshop).  And each cover will almost always show Prince William in his Colonel of the Irish Guards uniform (because that’s very regal-looking, no?).  Continue reading

Milliner Juliette Botterill Knows How To Make a Hat POP (Just Ask Eug and Bea)

We the People of the United States need to take a page from the mother country and start wearing hats on special occasions.

I’m not talking about gluing toys on a wide-brim hat and taking it to the races.  I’m talking about beautifully crafted objects of art that sit daintily atop one’s head.

One milliner who recently caught my attention does just that.  London-based Juliette Botterill worked for uber-famous designer Philip Treacy before breaking out on her own.

Now, her pieces are worn by Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice,  Autumn Phillips, as well as for the house of Ralph & Russo.

Oooh, and Botterill’s dandy hat candy is stocked at London’s jewel of a department store, Fortnum & Mason. Continue reading

Pippa Middleton’s New “Title:” What Does It Actually Mean?

Last week, after the dust settled and Pippa Middleton’s engagement to financier James Matthews became old news, the Daily Express revealed that Middleton will one day become “Lady Glen Affric.”

The press had a field day with the news, billing it as a new way for Middleton to try and one-up her older sister, the Duchess of cambridge.  “Two Titles For The Middleton Girls!” was all any media outlet could talk about.

I had absolutely no idea what to make of Middleton’s future title, so I asked royal expert and author Marlene Koenig to clear up the confusion surrounding the future Lady Glen Affric.

What exactly is a lairdship?

Before the Act of Union, when Scotland was an independent kingdom, lairds (15th & 16th century) were property owners holding land separate from the Scottish crown. This allowed them to attend the Scottish Parliament.

By the 17th century, the laird was the chief of a Highland clan.  Continue reading

Rare are the occasions we see a royal partake in manual labor (save for Princes William and Harry).

Today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series on the Solent, a straight that separates the Isle of Wight from mainland England.

Catherine is patron of the 1851 Trust, a charity run by sailing champ Sir Ben Ainslie that aims to get youths involved in the sport.

Today, wearing her Land Rover BAR polo, skinny jeans, Kiki McDonough’s “Lauren” gold leaf earrings and Monsoon wedges, Catherine met some of its members in Portsmouth.  Continue reading

Last night, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene arrived at  the Salle des Etoiles in Monaco to officially open this year’s Red Cross Gala, an event that thanks donors for making it possible for the organization to carry out its work.

Charlene wore the most glorious lilac gown that looked hand-painted (and was no doubt custom-made).

Two different designers- Valentino and Armani Prive – are being credited with the gown, but neither one has confirmed. So…  Continue reading

Prince George Slowly Poisons Lupo With Ice Cream, According To Some Idiots

Matt Porteous/Kensington Palace

Yesterday, Kensington Palace released four adorable photos of Prince George to celebrate his third birthday.

Normally the Duchess of Cambridge is behind the lens, but this time she and Prince William hired photographer Matt Porteous to snap George at Anmer Hall, the family’s home in Norfolk, England.

One photo from the set has the Royal Society For The Prevention of Cruelty To Animals concerned.

10 Times Prince George Was Disappointed By His Birthday Gifts

Well done.  You’ve cast a dark cloud of doom over the future King George VII.  Is it really that difficult to stick to the registry?

We’ve all witnessed toddlers react poorly to gifts that displease them, whether it’s Christmas or their birthday.

Today, Prince George of Cambridge celebrates his third birthday, although this one is a far more toned-down affair than 2013, when the whole damn world invited itself to the party (present company included).

And here we are, wishing the heir well as he rings in year three with a tea party at Anmer Hall, according to People‘s Simon Perry.

Since making his world debut, Prince George has received several gifts ranging from luxurious to downright odd.

How did His Royal Highness react?

  1. “A horse? Thanks…I guess.  What happened to that plane I wanted?”
