He is the heir, and she, the spare.  So it’s only fitting that Prince George and his little sister, Princess Charlotte take part in the celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s (or “Gan Gan” as George calls her) 90th birthday.

The Sun‘s Emily Andrews reports that the two children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posed alongside the monarch for photographer Annie Leibowitz, who also worked with Her Majesty in 2007.

“Wills and Kate were with the children but as adoring parents rather than wanting to be in the pics themselves,” a source told Andrews.

Catherine herself is a keen photographer, having taken several photos of her family and of the places she and William have traveled.  Continue reading

You have to hand it to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for pulling off a fantastic photo op just as the media was finished tearing Prince William apart.

Many have accused the Duke of being “workshy,” and shirking his royal responsibilities in favor of spending time with his family at their Norfolk, England home.

“No one really wants to admit it openly, but it was the talk of Sandringham over Christmas that he does nothing,” a source told the Sun‘s Emily Andrews last month.

“He wanted to move to Norfolk to give him the life of the gentleman country farmer, like his friends.”

So, William took matters into his own hands and arranged a family photo session in the French Alps last Thursday, reminiscent of the one he, Prince Harry and Prince Charles held in 2005 while skiing in the Klosters.  Continue reading

There he is, the future king of the United Kingdom and its Commonwealth realms.

Today His Royal Highness, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge begins his British education.

Kensington Palace released two photos of George arriving for his first day at Westacre Montessori School Nursery in Norfolk, taken by the Duchess of Cambridge.

With his blond locks tousled about and quilted jacket showing off a bit of tartan, George looked confident and ready for some introductions.

According to What Kate’s Kids Wore, the hooded puffer piece is from John Lewis (and is currently out-of-stock).

Richard Palmer of the Daily Express spoke with bystanders near the school, who noticed that security was tight as the royals arrived.   It’s roughly a twenty-minute drive from the family’s home to Westacre. Continue reading

‘The Prince George Diaries’ Author Clare Bennett Imagines Life as a Royal

If you ask me, royal books are having the best year ever.

First, I plowed through The Royal We in about three days and suffered from withdrawal.

THEN I discovered The Prince George Diaries (Michael Joseph books, November 2015) a satirical first-person account of George’s life, as recorded by the heir himself.

The book was written by the very smart, very funny Clare Bennett, a contributing editor to Tatler Magazine who has also worked on movies like Love Actually and Bridget Jones’s Diary.

In fact, Hugh Grant declared the book “Very clever.  Best diary of a two-year-old I’ve read this year.”

Bennett was kind enough to answer a few questions about the book, including the Duchess of Cambridge’s imagined obsession with the Kardashians and what she was doing the day Princess Charlotte was born.

You gave readers a taste of  The Prince George Diaries in Tatler’s November 2014 issue. When did you know this was bigger than just a column?

When Penguin asked me if I’d like to write an entire book! That was a pretty massive moment.

The way you described Kate watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians was fantastic.   How did you come to imagine her sitting on the couch, binging on episodes?

I think I read somewhere that she watches it – although even if she doesn’t, I thought it would be funny to write about her doing deeply normal things like worrying about Kim and Kanye’s house taking too long to be ready because it was time North had her own room.

And also because I’m obsessed with the Kardashians and I therefore sort of won’t believe Kate isn’t too.  Continue reading

12 Times Prince George Regretted His Outfit Choices

His Royal Highness, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, turns 2 today, and it’s anybody’s guess how he’ll spend it.  Perhaps putting another X on the “Days ‘Til I’m a King Like Simba” calendar, or perhaps sticking Legos into his little sister’s ear to see if it will come out the other.

Either way, grandma Middleton will decorate the venue with whatever theme little boys are into these days – Thomas the Tank Engine?  Henry VIII’s court?  “Splendid display, pleb,” he’ll tell Carole.  “Next time, please be sure that the bunting is made on tapestries rather than paper.  This isn’t some knees-up in Berkshire.”
